—requires the participation of a child and an alleged father, at a minimum. If the child’s mother is available for testing, we encourage her to participate as well. When the mother contributes a DNA sample, the laboratory can eliminate her contribution to the child’s genetic profile and focus on whether the child inherited DNA from the tested alleged father. A paternity test that involves a child, a mother, and an alleged father is commonly known as a
trio.
If the child’s mother is unavailable for testing, we can still perform a paternity test. The test requires extended testing and analysis to achieve conclusive results, but we provide this service at no additional fee. A paternity test that involves only a child and an alleged father is commonly known as a
motherless paternity test.
If you have more than one child to test—or more than one alleged father—please let us know. Multiple children or alleged fathers can be tested in the same paternity test. Each additional party costs £105 (legal) or £90 (private) on top of the standard test fee.
