Laboratory Accreditations

DNA Bioscience provides its clients with the most reliable and highest quality DNA testing services available. The following is a list of accreditations and certifications that the its affiliate laboratory, DDC, has achieved.

ISO/IEC 17025 Certification
ISO certification represents the highest level of accreditation in Britain. Certification according to ISO/IEC 17025 standards assures clients of scientifically sound testing that meets rigorous international standards. DDC obtained its ISO certification through Forensic Quality Services-International (FQS-I), which inspects DNA testing laboratories using the ISO standards as well as standards for forensic DNA testing.

AABB
The AABB’s Parentage Testing Accreditation program is the most widely accepted standard for DNA paternity testing laboratories. AABB accreditation is often required worldwide for DNA testing that involves immigration, child support, and other legal applications. The AABB accreditation program establishes and promotes the highest standards of testing quality and care for patients in all aspects of parentage testing. DDC started receiving AABB accreditation in 1996 and has achieved perfect, zero-deficiency ratings in its past three consecutive inspections by the organization.

ASCLD/LAB-International
The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) has the most stringent accreditation program for forensic DNA laboratories. The International accreditation is awarded to a group of elite laboratories that meet international standards for forensic DNA testing. DDC is currently the only private DNA laboratory to achieve this prestigious accreditation.

College of American Pathologists (CAP)
The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is "to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education, standard setting, and ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements." DDC's laboratory has achieved another perfect rating in its most recent CAP inspection, which examined the laboratory's general procedures and excellence in providing molecular diagnostics services.

New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
The NYSDOH certification permits laboratories to perform DNA tests on cases originating from New York. As some of the most stringent standards for laboratory testing, the NYSDOH standards require rigorous inspection of the entire testing service, including chain of custody procedures and patient referrals. DDC is one of the few AABB-accredited laboratories that also possess the prestigious NYSDOH certification, achieving a perfect rating in its past three inspections.

Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
The CLIA accreditation, issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, ensures laboratory results are timely, accurate, and reliable. DDC has been accredited by CLIA for over 8 years.
