Cell Line Identification

Research findings produced from biomedical research performed with cultured cells can become threatened by contamination and misidentification. For these issues, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recommended and provided guidelines for STR cell line identification, in order for researchers to receive grants and/or to be published. Sample Shipping Guidelines

  1. Wash the centrifuged cell pellet with phosphate buffered saline (PBS) at least three times.
  2. Prepare the cell pellet containing 1x106 - 5x106 cells OR purified DNA - 10 - 100 μl at a minimum of 2 ng/μl, if performing your own extraction. Place the dried cell pellet in a small culture tube or vial.
  3. Send samples to our laboratory by overnight courier with adequate dry ice so that samples remain frozen during shipment:
